Guidance of road vehicles - using induced coil voltages where assymetry generates proportional voltages for use as correcting signal

A guidance system for road or surface vehicles utilises electromagnetic coils within the vehicles operating together with the electro magnetic field generated by a cable layed within the road surface. The two coil arrangements consist of coupled cross coils (13, 14 and 13' 14') located at fixed heights above the road surface (h1 hz). Any deviation of the vehicle path from the dead centre position over the cable (12) produces an asymmetry in the inducted voltages in the coils. Voltages are generated for vertical and horizontal coils respectively. The derived voltages may be readily used in a correcting control system.
