The transceiver is intended for simultaneously receiving and transmitting phase or frequency modulated signals at one and the same frequency. The transmitter output is fed back to the receiver input to synchronise the transmitting frequency with the received frequency due to its design as a phase control circuit. This arrangement enables to amplify a signal received from another transmitter without distorting the frequency and then retransmitting it in synchronisation with that other transmitter. A monitoring facility may be also provided. The transceiver can also be used solely as a relay amplifier. Preferably the transceiver consists of a receive antenna, an amplitude detection, and a control filter.
