Electronic display system for thermal images - produces multiple contrast zones in different colours to increase contrast perceptible by human eye

The contrast zone of the thermal images is divided into several partial zones and a separate colour is assigned to each partial zone in the display. Pref. a scanner (8) which records the thermal image and a deflector (18) which reproduces the coloured image have the same mechanical drive to ensure synchronism. The thermal image scanner may be a polygonal prism capable of transmitting thermal radiation and the deflector may be a polygonal prism which transmits visible radiation, whereby both prisms are mounted on the same shaft (28). Pref. the radiation from two coloured light-emitting diodes (11, 12) is united through lenses and a beam splitter (15) at a single point and then passes through the prism.
