A cassette type tape recorder may also be used for lip synchronous recordings for cine films, and has a direct manual or automatic electronic access system, accurate to a single frame of film by means of an impulse counter which is powered by permanent, non exaseable impulses on a special track of the sound track. The impulses, which are of very precise length and separation work in conjunction with the impulses of a film or sound device to produce synchronous running of the two devices by producing cassette recorder motor connecting control signals.
