1487374 Polychlorohydrin ethers SANDOZ Ltd 5 Sept 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 38794/74 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C2 and D1-D2] A polychlorohydrin ether of Formula I wherein X 1 , X 2 , X 3 , X 4 and X 5 are each, independently, 1,2-ethylene, 1,2-propylene or 1,2- butylene, m 1 and m 2 are each, independently, an integer 1 to 30, m 3 , m 4 and m 5 are each, independently, 0 or an integer 1 to 30, n 1 , n 2 and n 3 are each, independently, 0 or an integer 1 or 2, Y 1 is hydrogen or a radical of the formula wherein n 4 is 0 or an integer 1 or 2, and Y 2 is hydrogen or a radical of the formula hwerein n 5 is 0 or an integer 1 or 2, and wherein the sum of m 1 , m 2 , m 3 , m 4 and m 5 is an integer 2 to 100 and the sum of n 1 , n 2 , n 3 , n 4 and n 5 is 0 or an integer 1 to 7, is in association with a compound of Formula II wherein R is a radical of the formula wherein R 2 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R 1 is NH 2 - or a radical of the formula X is alkylene (C 2 -C 12 ), phenylene, diphenyloxy or diphenylsulphone, X 6 and X 7 are each, independently, 1,2-ethylene, 1,2-propylene or 1,2- butylene, and m 6 and m 7 are each, independently, an integer 1 to 38, the sum of m 6 and m 7 being an integer 2 to 39, as an admixture of the compounds of Formulµ I and, II, and/or as a precondensate of the compounds of Formulµ I and II. The compound I may be prepared by alkoxylation of trishydroxymethylaminomethane followed by treatment with epichlorohydrin (see Division C2). The precondensate of I and II may be prepared by reacting I and II in an aqueous water-miscible solvent, e.g. aqueous isopropanol under non-acid conditions, and terminating at a suitable viscosity by increasing the acidity. The composition and/or precondensate may be diluted for use from a 10-50% aqueous concentrate at a pH below 7À0, to a 1-10% aqueous liquor between pH 5À5 and 7À0. Uses.-Treatment of textiles to render them antistatic.
