The disc pump is intended for extruding viscous material and comprises two co-axial discs (1) with facing working surfaces (2), which can be made to rotate relative to one another, whereby a concentric annular area of the working surface of at least one disc is provided with a number of grooves (4) which form the flow passage for the material to be pumped. The walls (3) or ridges separating the grooves, or at least their upper rims, have a very narrow width which is constant over their entire length. The walls may be plain-parallel strips. The depth of the grooves may vary in radial direction. The upper rim of the grooves may be a knife edge and may be radiused.
