Automatic packaging of objects in flexible bags - on table with actuating cylinder lifting bag to roller and blowing top flap of bag upwards to stop

Arrangement is for packing e.g. sliced meat products into flexible bags held in an horizontal plane (26) by prongs extending through holes in the longer, lower, flap of the bag, whereby the bag is initially opened by an air current (5). A table lift cylinder (8) is provided which lifts the bag to the required level to receive an object, the cylinder being controlled by valves producing a constant operating pressure, during which operation the upper flap of the bag engages a level-controlling roller (27). The bag is subsequently inflated by the air current and held down by an element (22) whilst the upper flap is blown upwards to engage a stop (21), after which a rotatable arm (19) is rotated such that the upper flap is clamped between the fixed stop (21) and the rotatable arm (19). The element (22) is then lifted, as is the stop (21) and the arm (19). Incorporated valves are operated by the object and spread the bag laterally.
