Middle distillates (esp. gas oils) with improved cold filterability characteristics contain a combination of (a) a butadiene polymer with a Mn of 500-20,000 (pref. 1000-15000) contg. 25-80 (pref. 30-70)% of hydrogenated butadiene units linked by 1,4-addn. and (b) an alkylated naphthalene deriv. of formula: (where n = 5-100, pref. 30-80; x = 1-10; R is H or 5-100C, pref. 30-80C alkyl). Combinations of (a) and (b) have a synergistic effect in that they reduce the limiting filterability temp. at concns. at which the individual components have little or no effect.
