The tread plate for a travelling stair has support rollers ensuring correct level of the travelling tread plate surface. The stip unit is readily adjusted to different slopes of the stair assembly. This arrangement can be used for any given reversing guide arrangement for the travelling stairs. - The axes (7,8,9) of the stairs traction rollers are arranged in a plane parallel to the stairs step unit tread plate level (10). The step unit (1) is held at both ends by a chain roller (2) and a traction roller. The axis (4) of the chain roller (2) is accommodated in a hole (5) in the head of the side plate of the step unit.
