Cable fittings for polymer-insulated medium/high voltage cable strands or single-core cables (particularly cross-linked or non cross-linked polyethylene insulated, e.g. jointing sleeve or terminal boxes) consist of (1) a permanently bonding plastic insulating tape which bonds to the conductor joint or end and the conductor glaze of conducting polymer (including at least the tapered insulation end round the cable strand) and (2) an electrically conducting permanently bonding plastic tape for stress control or screening round the insulation and which extends over the transition area as far as the outer screening layer.
