A coloured flashing lamp which can be put on the window sill may be the only way of indicating to the outside world that a single person has suffered a heart attack or other catastrophe. The lamp is connected by a 6m cable to a plug and can be switched on by a push button near the bed. A bell transformer can be arranged inside the lamp fitting and can be connected to a buzzer or bell at the end of a long cable which can be laid before the window. The lamp unit resembles a free standing motor vehicle headlamp and may be turned to face out of the window; it stands on a broad base.
