Runner system for foundry moulds - allows all castings to be broken off their ingates during vibratory knock out

Process for casting several objects using a row of moulds arranged along a runner, the novelty being that the bottom of the ingate or downgate feeding the runner is higher than the lowest section of the moulds. A sieve plate is pref. used in the downgate above the point the joint line between cope and drag. The pref. gating system is designed so that the above requirements are met. When the row of castings, complete with the downstick and runner, are fed onto any type of vibratory knock-out system in automatic casting plants, all the casting are in contact with the top of the vibrating grid or similar device so the castings break off the runner at the individual gates feeding each casting.
