Reinforced concrete section for inspection shafts - has shape between circular and rectangular forms with single sheet steel reinforcement

The reinforced concrete shaft section is used for water supply and draining systems. These sections are used as inspection shafts. The prefabricated concrete elements combine the static advantages of the standardised circular shaft segments with the advantages of the rectangular shaft segments. The underground channel pipes are more readily connected to rectangular elements than to circular ones. Only one single steel reinforcement layer is used in the walls curved in a certain manner and this steel is able to accommodate tensile forces from the inner and outer side of the section. The slightly curved walls (1) are reinforced by rectangular reinforcement (2). The wall thicknesses may vary or be uniform.
