The loudspeaker system, is used for large halls whose floor area is large relative to the height of the ceiling. It has few components and gives a good clear reproduction of speech by making the ratio of direct to reflected sound as large as possible. The loudspeakers (L1 etc.) are mounted in the roof of the hall and have unidirectional properties to radiate sound towards the floor of the hall away from the source (Q) of the sound. The angle between the axis of each loudspeaker and the floor of the hall lies between 20 and 60 deg.. The loudspeakers are mounted 3 m above the floor and are spaced (d) 8 m apart.
