The sound matching system is for magnetic film, esp. for equalizing the volume of sound film sections on either side of a joint, and is achieved by reducing the higher volume by magnetic means, pref. using an erasing head, (56). A unit employing the method has a base with a guide channel (50) for the film (52), the erasing head, a rubbed drive roller (44) and a transmission device between roller and head. A cover (48) is hinged to the base and is fitted with a rubber pressure roller (46) which presses the film against the drive roller when the cover is closed. The head is moved over the sound track (54) across the film when the latter moves out of the transmission device.
