Thyristors are arranged in an even and an odd thyristor groups and the operational states of the thyristors are monitored by transistors. When a pulse is received at a timing input connected to the thyristors through a pulse distributor and ignition multiples individually allocated to the thyristor groups, a distributor applies the pulses to the one or the other multiple in accordance with the counting circuit state, so that an even or an odd thyristor is ignited. After a thyristor is ignited, the preceding thyristor is extinguished. Load current circuits are connected through cathodes and/or anodes and decoupling diodes and currents in the one or the other direction.
