A soap bar has is one of its surfaces a cup-shaped recess for receiving a soap residue. The fundamental shape of the soap bar may be any conventional commercial shape, but the recess remains surrounded on all sides by an edge, or along only part of its periphery. After moistening, the two pieces of soap rapidly become together and take on the shape of a conventional complete bar of soap. The old piece of soap does not readily slip away as is the case when it is stuck to a conventional bar of soap without a recess.
