The rotary piston unit has an inner piston (3) rolling hypocycloid-fashion inside an outer piston (4), whereby the dia. of the outer roll circle is twice that of the inner roll circle, the inner piston has a circular cross-section, and the outer piston is contained in a cylindrical housing (2) with inlet and outlet parts (10, 11). The two pistons are each arranged on a separate drive shaft. The inlet and outlet parts connect into the mantle (2) of the housing over their full cross-sectional area (A, B). The wall of the outer piston is provided with openings (4a, 4b) for suction inlet and compression outlet.
