A pair of hand held shears for sheet metal has two handles (1, 2) bolted together at a hinge point (3). A scriber point (14) can be ground on one of the grips so that this scriber forms an integral part of the shears. Alternatively, one of the handles (6) can be given a 'C' shaped section and a separate scriber (8) or marking pencil can be mounted with a spring clip (11) against the hollow section of the grip.
