An electrostatic air filter operates by having the air to be cleaned forced by means of a ventilator fan through an electromagnetic field which is formed between twin opposed hole units subjected to electrostatic charges. The negative hole is constructed from a metallic foil (3) strip. This strip is continuous and fed over pulley rollers (5,6). It can be unspooled for cleaning. The pulleys (5,6) are arranged in series so that parallel intermediate chambers are formed. The positive holes are mounted within these chambers.
