Device moves along a line of open-end spinning stations, to provide maintenance and repair of broken yarns at the stations. The mobile maintenance unit is fitted with a unit to control the passage of the spun yarn from the spinner to the winding spool. The system ensures that when the open-end spinner is stopped by the maintenance unit, that the yarn end at the spool is suitably positioned to be reversed into the spinning chamber for a successful splicing.
