The excitation system is designed for a reflector aerial with a frequency band divided into several sections. The excitation unit (1 - 4) consists of dipoles with associated auxiliary reflectors which have dimensions for frequency ranges that are widely separated. The excitation units are mechanically interlinked in such a way that their phase centres will in each case coincide at the focal point (5) of the main reflector. The reflector aerial system extends over a frequency band covering four or more octaves with four or more input and output circuits respectively each covering an octave bandwidth. Only two of the main reflectors will be fitted with the excitation system. The reflector of the first excitation system is flat and the dipoles are located a quarter wavelength away.
