Shuttleless loom weaving action - has a double shed to weave two fabric layers and increase output

A relatively large gap is placed between the planes of the two fabrics being woven, with rapiers and grippers used to insert the weft with a weft transfer action in the centre of the shed zone. The rapiers are operated on both sides of the sheds and their outer ends are coupled in pairs, with guide rods between them, with no fvree play. A crank drive gives the reciprocating action to the rapiers by a connection to the coupling. The weft insertion is cynchronised with the motion of the crank-drive sley of the reed. Spreaders hold each fabric layer giving upper and lower support. Design increases the productivity of a shuttleless loom, without increasing loom speeds or bgoing to a rolling shed mechanism with its complex components.
