A process for making a shoe, of the moccasin type, in which the rear part of the upper (1) is fixed to a half inner sole (4). The inner sole extends as far as the arch (5) and the front part of the upper (1) is joined to a welt (8) fixed directly to the sole. The welt is cut out in leather, is oval in shape and has a longitudinal slot (10) in its plane. The two flaps of the welt are joined by stitching and the back part of the welt (8') is fixed to the front part (4) of the inner sole.
