1478444 Sieves B F BORIE 20 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 02186/76 Heading B2H A sieve comprises a unitary first rim part 2 having a central portion 2a provided with a groove in which a sieve gauze or mesh 3 is fixed and two cylindrical or frustoconical portions 2b and 2c, and a second rim part 1 fixed to the first part 2. In one embodiment, the part 2 is moulded onto the mesh 3 and the part 1 attached to the part 2c by adhesive or ultrasonic welding after the mesh has been put under tension by the lower edge la of the part 1. In another embodiment the edge of the mesh 3 is fitted into the groove and the two ends of the rim part 2 then welded together to form the part 2 into an annular configuration. The mesh 3 may be of brass, stainless steel, galvanised wire, iron, leather, silk or plastics material and may be secured to the part 2 by adhesive or ultrasonic welding. A plurality of such sieves may be stacked one upon another.
