ABSTRACTA dispenser cathode comprising a porous metalbody which had an emissive surface and the pores of whichcontain one or more compounds for dispensing at leastbarium and scandium to the emissive surface, which compoundsare composed of at least barium oxide, scandium oxide andaluminium oxide, in which the quantity of scandium oxideis less than 10% by weight, and preferably 3% by weight, ofthe overall quantity of the dispensing compound (s), hassubstantially the sane good emissive properties as cathodesin which the dispensing compound comprises 5.5% by weight ofscandium oxide and 18% by weight of yttrium oxide (Y2O3), orbarium scandate as a dispensing compound.
