Metal installation flange for double glazed panels - is suitable for use with replacement panels in existing frames

The method of mounting is for a double glazed window panel, especially suitable for use when replacing existing single glaxing where traditional methods may not be sufficiently strong for the increased weight. One of the sheets of glass (1) is made larger than the other (3) to form a peripheral projection and the two sheets are sealed (4) together around the edges. The fixing method consits of bonding (5) a piece or pieces of sheet metal (8) around the projecting edge of the larger plane and to the seal so as to form a projecting flange or a number of projecting portions which can be drilled (9) to take screws for affixing to the frame (2). Various shapes of flange for internal and external fixing are possible and malleable metal may be used so that the flange may be bent out to fit the frame on site.
