Giant laser with rod:shaped laser medium - has main resonator with polarisation switch and laterally deflectable beam emission

The laser stimulated medium is supplied with energising light in the direction of its axis by an auxiliary laser whose stimulatable medium is formed by a dielectric rod. The energising light beam is selectively interrupted and transmitted by an optical switch. The system uses a main and an auxiliary resonator, the latter containing also the optical switch, as in 1514548. - The main resonator (6, 7) has a laterally deflectable output radiation, using polarising switch (9) in connection with a polarisation circulator (10). The main resonator limiting mirrors are transparent for the auxiliary laser transmitter but opaque for the main laser transmission frequency. Behind the outer mirror (7) is connected an opto-electronic converter (11) whose electric output is coupled to the control input (12) for the polarisation circulator.
