This switching signal system with primary and secondary signals (HK, NK) ensures that a connection cleardown initiated by a calling telephone station and by a called telephone station irrespective of the direction of the connection set-up and the connection cleardown result in different signalling sequences permanently allocated to the respective ends of the connecting line. This ensures in simple fashion that in each case a new seizure of the corresponding transmission circuits takes place only at the end of the period required by the monitoring devices.
