Carbonate hardness adjustment - of brewery water by air blast scrubber and lime water

The carbonate hardness of water can be adjusted by passing the raw water over acid cation exchangers and a side stream over basic anion exchangers to absorb the free acid. Free CO2 is removed completely in a scrubber by a blast of air. Lime water of a certain constant concentration is mixed with a CO2-contg. side stream. The resulting carbonate soln. is added to the water leaving the scrubber, in the desired amount.
