Heater for hot water central heating comprises a hot water tank with electric heating system to which is attached a water heater using lignite briquettes, with its own water tank which may be connected to the other tank. A thermostat controls a valve in the outlet pipe of the secondary tank and a pump in the inlet pipe of the tank. An automatic ignition system is incorporated in the combustion chamber to ignite the lignite briquettes.
