Cooled grinding shoe system for belt grinding machines - uses grinding shoe which has aluminium base body fitted with cooling air fins

A cooled grinding shoe is for grinding heads of belt grinding machines, especially high output grinding machines where there is a metal contact face between the shoe and grinding belt. Specifically, the grinding shoe (1) has an aluminium base body (2) fitted with cooling air fins (6). At the contact face (8) between grinding belt (3) and grinding shoe, the base body has a thin hard metal inlay. The hard metal inlay (5) have a dovetail cross-section and is pushed into the grinding shoe (1) and fixed in the base body (2). More specifically, the hard metal inlay (5) is fixed in the base body by a multi-component adhesive. The cooling air fins (6) are limited by parallel channels (7) which lie in the air flow (8) generated by the grinding belt motion.
