Matrix decoder for colour TV signals - has two resistors and one amplifier to derive red, green and blue signals from sum and difference signals
Matrix decoder for colour TV signals - has two resistors and one amplifier to derive red, green and blue signals from sum and difference signals
The matrix decoder, for colour television signals, converts the sum (U+V) and the difference (U-V) of colour difference signals into the chrominance signals R, G and B. The relevant equations are: V = 0.61R-0.52G-0.097B and U = 0.15R-0.29G +0.44B and R = 1.06 (U+V), G = 0.67 (U-V) and B = 1.5 (U+V) + 1.58 (U-V). The matrix consists solely of two resistors and an amplifier and it needs no luminance signal. For PAL signals all the matrix coefficients are greater than zero so that no inverters are required.
