The stop for the fastening elements in curtain tracks comprises a threaded pin (1) with a projection (2) which is narrower than the insert width (3) of the rail but is longer than the distance (5) between the walls (6) of the rail. The stop can then be inserted in all standard rails where it is secured by a wing nut (7) which is screwed onto the threaded pin and has a collar (15) which is wider than the insert width. The projection of the stop fits into the insert width of the rail whereupon the stop is rotated slightly until the projection abuts at least one of the walls. In this position the threaded pin can no longer rotate so that by rotating the wing nut further it is screwed onto the pin until the collar abuts the underneath of the rail and the two parts are firmly screwed together with the rail inbetween. A plate (8) with a hole (9) for the pin can be provided which has two resilient tongues with a constriction which define a socket for the fastening element, with the plate being wider than the insert width of the rail.
