Vinyl chloride removal from PVC - by spray drying into a degassing chamber opt. contg. a gaseous heat carrier

Vinyl chloride (I) is removed from PVC particles by spray-drying fine PVC particles together with a liq. and/or vapour or gaseous medium into a degassing chamber and removing the free gaseous (I). Spray drying of PVC forms particles with a large surface area so that (I) can be easily removed from the surface or pores without re-adhesion to neighbouring PVC particles. The process is esp. suitable for both suspension and emulsion PVC.
