The spinning characteristics of wool fibres on rotary spinning machines are improved by pretreatment of the fibres for redn. of scale with a scale-occluding synthetic resin or by an oxidising agent for partial removal of scale structures. A synthetic rresin with a higher surface tension than that that of wool or carrying a positive charge in comparison to the negatively charged wool is used. Used for the more efficient processing of wool in rotary spinning machines and the avoidance of scale-build-up. Removal of scale ensures a smoother spinning process, producing an undamaged yarn superior in mechanical tenacity and dyeing properties.
