Activated sludge sewage treatment tank - with two circular aeration bridge tracks spanning oval tank

In an activated sludge sewage treatment plant, the aeration tank has two circular tracks, each for one aeration bridge. The peripheral wall of the tank consists of two outer semi-circles, joined by two tangential sections in the centre. The tracks in the centre are carried on semi-circular supports resting on stays in the aeration tank. This oval tank has adequate capacity, yet is easier to prepare and to supervise than a purely circular tank of large diameter. The flow conditions can be controlled more easily.
