The automatic switch is fitted between the supply and the headlamp main and dipper switch and the side lamp switch. The switch consists of a 12 volt relay whose working contacts open the head-lamp supply. The relay is excited when the ignition is switched on to complete the headlamp circuit in conjunction with the headlamp switch.
