Buried pipe insulating process - fills trench with granulate insulating material and hot bitumen poured through cover

The process insulates and embeds a pipe laid in a trench with lost shuttering and through which a hot medium flows, using a bituminous filling mixed with granular additives having a high degree of heat insulation. The space between the shuttering (2) and the pipe is completely filled with expanded glass granulate insulating material (5), particularly aluminium silicate in conventional granular form, over which a permeable cover (6) is placed. A bituminous mass, or one containing bitumen (7) and flowing freely when hot, is then poured through the cover to fill up the intervening spaces between the grain particles.
