In an electrolytic process of mfg. metal powder from an ionised soln. of a metal cpd., a layer of the metal powder is used as the cathode and the electrolysis is conducted in a conventional manner under conditions which favour the deposit of powder. The metal is pref. zinc, obtd. from an aq. alkaline soln. of ZnO contng. 10-350 g/l Zn and 100-800 g/l KOH. The metal powder deposit is pref. suspended by turbulence in the soln. which is then replaced by fresh soln. while the metal powder is removed and the powder-free soln. returned to the circulating system.
