Stabilised, neutral calcium hypochlorite compsns. - prepd. by mixing dry and damp neutral hypochlorites

Prepn. of compsns. with ahigh Ca(ClO)2 (I) content stabilised against propagation of any initial decompsn., comprises mixing unstabilised, neutral dry (I) with a neutral wet (I) to give a prod. of moisture content 4-13%. Pref. dry (I) is that prepd. in the usual manner while the damp (I) is derived from the conventional prodn. of (I) before drying. Method is more economical than known methods of stabilisation since no special equipment is needed and drying costs are reduced. Typically, mixing 8.9t dry, granular (I) and 1.2t damp (I) gave, after 2 hrs., 10t of a stable compsn. with 70.7% active Cl and water content 4.3%.
