Diuretic 7-chloro-4-hydroximino thia:chroman 1,1-di:oxide - prepd. from 7-chloro-4-thia:chromanone by oxidn. and addn. of hydroxylamine

7-Chloro-4-hydroximino thiachromane-1,1-dioxide of formula (I) is new (I) has diuretic activity and is incorporated in pharmaceutical compsns. opt in admixture with other active cpds. In an example, 7-chloro-4-thia chromanone was oxidised with H2O2 in acetic acid to form the 1,1-dioxide. This was treated with hydroxylamne hydrochloride and Na acetate in ethanol to give (I) m. pt. 203 degrees C.
