The saw is particularly for stone cutting, having a thin core carrying on its periphery either a series of cutters or a continuous one. The core is formed by two coaxial metal discs (5, 6) of the same diameter and clamped together. A sheet of vibration-dampening material (7) may be gripped between the discs, being typically of metal, alloy, paper, cardboard, rubber, bakelite, resin, or flexible synthetic material. The design greatly reduces the noise level when cutting stone such as granite.
