The end of the wiper arm is bent over into a U-shape and and a U-shaped spring clip (40) is located in the end of the arm, with the spring having reduced width shanks to grip the support bar on the rear of the wiper blade assembly. One end of the spring clip has a ratchet cut which is clipped into a slotted end of the wiper arm and which is retained by flanged sides of the clip. The wiper arm provides a simple coupling to the wiper blade, with only two components with simple stampings. The spring clip is easily replaced when worn.
