Digital display of measurement probe output - utilises differential detector to convert probe output for counting and display

A differential detector with electrical elements having opposing variations is used with a displacement probe whose output is converted for measurement and numerical display. The output of a clock generator is divided down and applied to a clock counter which has a four state output. The zero state output is used to reset to zero a counter while other states drive a measurement probe. The probe output is gated and applied to the counter. A latching circuit is also driven from the clock counter to permit display. Gating circuits and a subsidiary display ensures that the sign of the measurement is displayed.
