The power supply, for an electric fence, has contacts closing to discharge its capacitor (charged from the battery) through the fence transformer primary. When the contacts open the discharge current stops and a HV pulse induced in the transformer secondary. The time for which the contacts are closed depends upon the battery charge condition. This dependence is accomplished by charging a control capacitor (C1) from the battery whilst the main capacitor is being discharged. The control capacitor then operates the transistor switch (S) that opens the contacts once the discharge current has reached its max. value for the battery charge condition.
