Endotracheal suction probe - with casing fixed to end piece branching from shaft of intubation needle

Endotracheal suction device comprises a probe of flexible material, pref. siliconised rubber or plastic, within a casing which is fixed to a secondary end piece branched laterally in a Y shape on the shaft of the intubation needle, near the upper end of the needle. The probe pref. has a central channel along its whole length, and comprises an upper section which can be connected to a vacuum source and a lower section which can be introduced into the trachea and bronchi. It may have an opening in its upper section which is fixed to the upper section of the thin flexible plastic casing. The device avoids transmission of germs, and allows extraction of bronchial secretions without disconnecting the respirator or withdrawing any plug at the level of the connection if the respirator.
