Dehydrocylisation of aliphatic hydrocarbons is carried out as described in the Parent Patent by contacting the hydrocarbon and H2 at 430-550 degrees C. with a catalyst comprising =1 Gp. VIII metal supported on an L-type zeolite. The improvement is that =90% of the exchangeable cations in the zeolite are M1+, and M2+ ions (where M1 is K, Li a and/or Na; M2 is Rb and/or Cs). The M1M2L zeolites give high conversions and higher selectivities for aromatics than the M1L zeolites described in the Parent Patent.
