The shutter comprises a caisson of machine-welded steel plate and of hollow rectangular section. External horizontal flanges define the top edges of all four walls (1, 4). The flanges (5) of the flank walls (4) are stepped down below those of the major walls (1) to form bearing seats (6) for rails (15) supporting void-formers (16). Hard metal liner plates (9) with centring pins (10) are bolted (11) inside the flank walls (4). The rail (15) ends step down to form tenons (19) which traverse slots (17) in the liner (9) to take bearing on the recessed surface of the flank wall flange (5). The tenons (19) are then secured by vertically bolted (22) flush cover plates (21).
