The war game is based on the tactics used during the Napoleonic era and is played on a board divided into squares. Each player has figurines symbolising combatant units, these being cavalry, infantry and artillery in predetermined proportions. The board is marked out to represent one or more supply depots for each player and supply lines are provided to the combatants. Certain areas are defined as being impregnable and cannot be subjected to frontal attack. The purpose of the game is to sever the other player's supply lines, to destroy his supply depots and also to incapacitate his combatant forces.
